How to Share Your Notes on NoteSphere with a Public Link and Help Other Students

NoteSphere doesn't store files itself. Upload your notes to Google Drive or GitHub, add the public link, and help students find them. Here's the step-by-step guide.

Your notes can help someone you will never meet

Every semester, thousands of students search for good notes the night before an exam. If your notes are clear and well organised, they could be exactly what someone needs. Sharing them on NoteSphere takes only a few minutes.

How sharing works on NoteSphere

NoteSphere does not store note files itself. Instead, you upload your notes to a place you already use, such as Google Drive or GitHub, make the file public, and add that public link on NoteSphere with details like the title, course, year and subject. Students then find your notes on NoteSphere and open them through your link.

This also means you stay in control. Your files stay in your own account, and you can update or remove them any time.

Step 1: Get your notes ready

Make one PDF per subject or unit. Scan handwritten pages with a scanner app and merge them in order, instead of sharing 40 loose photos.
Check that it is readable. Use good light, keep pages straight and avoid shadows.
Name the file clearly. For example: DBMS_Unit1-5_BTech_Sem3.pdf
Remove personal details such as phone numbers, roll numbers or ID cards from the pages.

Step 2: Upload the file and make it public

Option A: Google Drive
1. Open Google Drive and upload your PDF.
2. Right-click the file and choose Share.
3. Under General access, change "Restricted" to "Anyone with the link" and keep the role as Viewer.
4. Click Copy link.

Option B: GitHub
1. Create a free GitHub account and make a new public repository, for example "my-notes".
2. Click Add file, then Upload files, and add your PDF. Browser uploads have a size limit of around 25 MB per file, so compress very large PDFs first.
3. Commit the file, open it in the repository, and copy the page's URL from your browser.

Option C: Anywhere else
Dropbox, OneDrive or any other storage works too, as long as the link opens for anyone without logging in.

Step 3: Test the link

Open the link in a private or incognito window. If it opens without asking you to sign in or request access, it is ready. If it doesn't, the file is still private. This is the most common reason links fail.

Step 4: Add the link on NoteSphere

Log in to your NoteSphere account and choose the option to add a note. Fill in a clear title, the course, the year or semester and the subject, then paste your public link and submit. After the note appears, open it once to check that everything looks right.

Share responsibly

Share only notes you wrote yourself, or material you have permission to share. Please don't upload paid course content, full textbooks or someone else's work. Give credit if you used another source, and never include personal information.

Other ways anyone can help

You don't need perfect notes to make a difference:
Share what you have. Even one good unit summary helps a lot.
Organise notes by syllabus. Notes that follow the university syllabus are much easier for others to use.
Add past question papers if your university allows sharing them.
Keep your link alive. If you improve your notes, replace the file in your drive instead of making a new one. In Google Drive, right-click the file and choose Manage versions, and the same link keeps working.
Report problems. If you find a broken link or wrong details, tell us on the Contact page.
Spread the word. Tell juniors and classmates where to find notes.
Write a blog. Study tips and course guides from your own experience help other students too. Read the latest posts on the Blogs page.

Start with one set of notes

You can find shared notes for your course and year on the Notes page. When you have a set of your own ready, share it the same way.

One link can save someone a whole night of searching. Share yours today.
